I am planning of buying a jet ski. I consider purchasing a second hand jetski for a reason that it is cheaper than the new ones. But tell me, is it a better deal? Also, where can I buy cheap jetskis?

Thanks a lot!

That was my thought and question a few weeks ago.  I know basic mechanics but certainly not enough to service and repair or diagnose problems.  It is obvious that buying second hand would be cheaper and save a lot of money.  It can also mean a lot of headache and an unreliable machine.  Those machines can be really run hard if wanted.  If you could find the right seller, used would be the way to go.  Since I didn't have the right resource, I decided to buy a new old PWC.  I chose a Yamaha and bought a 2006 which many still have.  Right now Dealers are really wanting to move 2006 models with 2008 models coming in soon.  I think I got a pretty good deal on a new 2006 Yamaha.  It is a family toy and I wanted to feel safe if my wife took my kids out and not worrying that it might stop or have another problem.

Purchasing a second hand Jet ski is better deal, when the Jet ski is fully tested. I prefer to buy new ones. I suggest you to visit a compatible review site. Try this: http://thejetskireview.com/mtree/Yamaha_Jet_Ski_Reviews/

I think buying used is just fine. There are a lot of ski's out there that where bought new, used a week, then decided we don't like this !  You should have some idea what your looking at - condition, who's selling it, what are they selling for and the like. Also read the person selling, is he feeding you a line or did he buy something he didn't really want ??  If you have zero mechanical skill and no desire to learn then buy new.  I have bought 8 used ski's, can't say I really got burnt on any of them.   Good Luck ...
