Hi,
Just got a old 550 from -89
Can’t get it to start. I have checked the sparkplugs and the look good and I have a spark. Also checked fuel inlet and so on. Everything is ok but I can’t seem to get the right spark. Is it possible to set the timing some how? any other suggestions to get it running?

I had the same problem with a jet ski I got that did some sitting around for 5 years before I bought it. When you ground the plugs to the head do you see a spark? Fuel going in the carb? Most important did you check compression yet? You should have around 120's in both. I had one that had 60 in one and 120 in the other. Not good... It had a stuck ring.... If yours has that I have a quick fix for it... The dealer would not agree with my method as they would want to rebuild the motor, but it works and I still ride it and it keeps going.... Let me know
