I have a 1984 kaw 550 and there is a plug where the timing cover is... when i bought it there was no plug.. i ordered a new plug but in the mean time i plugged it with somehting else.. it seems to run better with the plug out and seems to be alot of pressure in there. The original plud i dont think has a breather on it.

The jet ski runs fine then bogs then picks up a little then bogs. It seems like when it builds up pressue in there it will bog and it releases a little and runs better i have not ridden it without the plug, i dont want to. Let me know what u guys think

I have a 440 with the same thing and mine has a plug in it as well. Not really sure if it will run better or worse with the plug out. I opened mine up as it has not ran in 10 years and see no fluid in there? Is there suppose to be any fluid in there do you know??? I am not sure... LIke i said i have not riden mine in ten years and i forgot all about what to do. Do you know anything about the grease fitting on the shaft in the back about how much grease goes in? do you need to take it apart and clean it  at all? any help would be appreciated.

No fluid on most of those, it's a timing window/access, not an oil reservoir.  Some of the 300cc seem to have a crank case oil res, but not these.

if rpm surge when plug is out  and you have press. in there yopu need to replace your crank seals. dont run with plug out in the situation because the fron tcyl will lean out and you will then have to completly rebuild not just replace the seals. and no fluid gose in there you can put a SMALL amount of oil or spray WD40 in there to keep rust build up down.
