I ran a new 2008 stx-15f this afternoon. The ski has about 7 hours on it and has been running great with no problems. Today the ski was run fairly hard for a little over an hour. The ski was sideways a few times and a rider did capsize once and immediately righted it.  The ski continued to run fine for several minutes after it capsized. About 15 minutes later a rider fell off the ski tipping it sideways but not capsizing it. When he got back on to restart the ski, it took a couple of tries before the engine turned over. Once started, it was running very weak and sounded to be sputtering a bit. It was very low on power (probably only reaching 4000 rpm at best).

I checked the intake grate to make sure it was free of any foreign objects...which it was

I also checked the engine compartment. This revealed about a half inch of water on the bottom of the compartment. I assume that this water came in when the ski was capsized earlier.

We started the ski again and it seemed to be getting better as we ran it. After about 4-5 more minutes the ski was back up to full power and running smooth.

My questions are: Is it normal for this ski to get a small amount of water in the engine compartment after it has been capsized?

Also... Is it likely that the water in the compartment splashed into the air intake when it was tipped on its side?? Causing the ski to run rough until the water was burned out of the cylinders...

Any thoughts would be appreciated, as I would be very interested to know if that was the cause of my problems and if it’s normal. Or should I be worried about something else?

Thanks
