I have a 1997 1100 STX. It has been setting for the winter. I go out and start it every 4 to 6 weeks. A couple of months ago I noticed oil collecting in the hull below the oil pump. The oil pump is not the leak. It is coming from the carburators and flowing to that area of the hull. I removed the carbs and noticed oil leaking from the middle carb. It also appears to be leaking into the intake manifold. It always smokes very heravily when first started. I have always thought it was getting too much oil, but it runs great and have never oil fouled a plug. Anyway, I removed the plate covering the diaphram and the diapram. The area under the diaphram was full of oil. This is the area the oil is pumped to. I did not see any damage to the diaphram of the O-Ring under the needle and seat plate. It appears to me that the oil is simply gravity feeding into the carbs. Should this be happening? Do I have a problem with the oil pump?
